Strangely enough, it’s been one month since my last “life update” post, which I shared on February 17th (that post is here). Where I have I been?
Well, to start things off, I actually moved and signed my lease for my new apartment on March 1st! I’m a little further from campus but I’m closer to work now. Overall I actually think it has cut down on a lot of my driving time and is saving me money in gas, which I can’t complain about. On the downside, since I moved during midterms as well as during the biggest event of our year at my job (meaning I am working a lot of hours this month), I haven’t had any time to actually get internet set up… which can hopefully explain why I haven’t been updating: no internet! The good news is that I am officially on Spring Break starting now, so this is probably the perfect week to call and get that taken care of.
Speaking of school… midterm grades are in, and I couldn’t be happier with where things are at. Case in point:
All A’s in the five courses I am taking! Two of those courses are actually 4 credits, so overall I am taking 17 credits this semester. Like I mentioned earlier, I’m working a lot of hours this month. I’m only supposed to be part-time, but because we lost a full-timer right before our big event (which spans the month) I’ve ended up with practically full-time hours. On one hand, that’s great because I can’t complain about earning some extra money; on the other hand, it’s made it a bit harder to stay on top of things with my classes, which is why this semester I am so proud that I’ve somehow still managed to study, get things turned in on time, and end up with all A’s! Whew.
I also officially submitted my Honors Program application and I applied for some summer scholarships as I will continue taking classes during the summer break. Fingers crossed that both go over well.
What else, what else…
Love (or lack thereof)
Well, in some of my spare time I’ve had the opportunity to go on quite a few dates. After most all of those dates (not all of them as I just had a really good one recently), I’ve honestly thought to myself: “I could write a book about this.” These situations are supposed to only happen in movies and TV, yet they are happening to me… in real life. My recent dating experiences have all ranged from pretty funny to pretty sad–with the benefit of being able to look back on most and think to myself, “I can’t believe that happened,” and laugh a bit about it.
Regardless of how terrible my dating life has been, I’m still trying to keep my heart open and remind myself that not every person I go on a date with will __________ (fill in the blank with past experience which meant no second date ever). I’m also trying to remind myself that no perfect person exists. Whatever “list” I have in my mind, full of the must-haves and dealbreakers, I need to take it as a guideline and not as law. Obviously I want someone who has a job, and a vehicle, and doesn’t live with their parents, etc., but beyond that I am hoping for someone that can make me laugh. Someone who I feel good around, and goes out of their way to be considerate. We all know that beauty fades away and we will all end up old and decrepit eventually, but personality is something that we carry through life… so I am hoping to find the personality that meshes just right with mine.
Since officially moving into my own place, I have all these big plans for my room. I’m really wanting to create a bedroom / bathroom that has an atmosphere that I want to come home to at the end of the day. Something a bit like my own personal retreat. I’ve even gone so far as to start using Pinterest again as I look for creative or beautiful ideas!
The first thing I ordered after moving was 100 ft of amber lights on copper wire from Restoration Hardware, which I am currently waiting for. I want to hang them up along the perimeter of my room so at night, instead of having the main light on, I can have my room gently lit with a warm glow. I’m also on the lookout for a new bookcase (wider and a little shorter) to replace my current one, as well as little knick-knacks here and there. I still need to install a rod curtain rod above my window so I can put up some shades, find the right floating-shelves to put on the walls, figure out how to hang my photos of Jackson, and so forth. It’s a work in progress and I’m wondering if I will ever finish.
Well, that about takes care of it. I am going to try and get some makeup posts up this week… I have photos on my camera of products I photographed last month that are waiting to be seen, so we’ll see how productive I may or may not be.
