It’s almost 2014! I figured I would go through my FOTD posts and choose my personal five favorites to share with you. This year I found life changing rapidly for me. With moving, getting a dog, starting school and starting to work as a makeup artist for a new company, I didn’t have quite as much time to sit and play with makeup as I used to. Many of my looks took a softer quality as I tried to find the balance between work and play. (Interestingly enough, I noticed that most of my favorite eye makeup looks I chose actually used Femme Fatale Cosmetics on the eyes! What can I say, their eyeshadows are absolutely beautiful.)
So, without further ado, here are the five looks I chose to highlight from this past year — in no particular order. Is there a different look I created that you think should have made this list?
I began to amass a huge collection of red lipsticks this year, and have worn a lot of red in the past few months in particular. I love how bold & classic a red lip can be. When I put it on, I instantly feel empowered. This look didn’t stick to the “red lip & winged eyeliner” combo, as I decided to do a soft, neutral smokey eye instead.
Pink is one of my favorite eyeshadow colors to work with, so I was particularly fond of this eye makeup look! Not only was it simply pretty in general, I loved the sparkle and contrast. This eye makeup worked perfectly with Fyrinnae’s “Ocelot” Lip Lustre, one of my favorite pale pink lip colors.
When I was first putting together this look, I wasn’t sure I was going to like it. I normally don’t do such a light lid shade. I was surprised by how much I ended up loving this look. My favorite part might be the winged shape, which was a combination of eyeshadow and a thin line of liquid eyeliner to sharpen it. The lipstick is “Uptown Mauve” by Milani Cosmetics, who reformulated their lipstick line and they are amazing now!
I loved the colors in this eye makeup! Beautiful warm shades which are perfect for fall. I got a lot of compliments when wearing this makeup and the best part is that it was so easy to put together… just a simple gradient of colors straight across the lid, nothing fancy.
There is something so beautiful about a very dark lip color, so when I wanted to wear Milani’s “Black Cherry” Color Statement lipstick, I layered it up to have it as dark as possible! I then paired it with glowy taupe eyes, courtesy of Fyrinnae’s absolute perfect eyeshadow called “Witchy Woodland Creatures” — one of their “must have” shades in my opinion.
What did you think of the looks I chose? Would you have chosen some other ones?
