Hello everybody! Just a heads up — this is a picture-heavy post, considering that it has photos & swatches of Tarte Cosmetics “Gorgeous Getaways” Portable Palette Set, a collection which contains sixteen new Amazonian Clay Eyeshadow shades, four new Amazonian Clay Blush shades, and three new Maracuja Lipgloss shades — and all products are full-sized! You also get a travel compact which allows you to pop in one of the four “mini palettes” when you don’t want to take the entire set with you.
If you’ve been reading my blog the past few months, you may be familiar with my current love affair with Tarte Cosmetics, so it was impossible for me to pass up this fantastic collection of their products.
*All photos and swatches taken in natural light with no flash. All swatches, aside from the lipglosses, patted and blended over Too Faced Shadow Insurance.*

As far as I am aware, this collection is available exclusively at Ulta, both in-store and online at their website. I did not see it listed on the Tarte Cosmetics website. I also believe this is limited edition for the holiday season. It retails for $48.00 USD, and says it is a $433 value — which makes sense considering each eyeshadow, blush, and lipgloss are all full-sized.
Give the gift of color and convenience this season with Tarte’s limited-edition Gorgeous Getaways portable palettes & collector’s compact set. Overflowing with 16 expertly-coordinated eye shadows, 4 brand new blushes and 3 maracuja lipglosses, this one-of-kind modular box set also includes a chic portable palette compact for endless looks on the go!
The limited-edition set features:
16 full size Amazonian Clay Eye Shadows inspired by magical destinations around the world
4 full size Amazonian 12-Hour Clay Blushes in new, limited-edition shades
3 full size Maracuja Lipglosses in new, limited-edition shades
Portable collector’s compact to take the interchangeable palettes on-the-go
To take your palettes with you in the collector’s compact, simply lift the ribbon, remove the palette, and place it inside the compact.
A $433 value!

As you can see, all the colors are very neutral and come in a nice variety of shades, depth, and finishes. There aren’t necessarily any unexpected colors, so if you are someone who craves those kind of shades, maybe this isn’t up your alley. But… if you are a fan of neutral, “wearable” colors–whether by personal preference or work restriction–this could be a great addition to your makeup collection.
The packaging is a bit larger and made of cardboard–not necessarily bulky, at least in my opinion, but it will take up space on your vanity. I think the finished design on the outside is really pretty with its combination of a rich purple and shiny gold pattern. When you first open the palette set, you can see the lid has a large mirror and the top holds all four of the removable mini-palettes. When you pull out the bottom drawer, you find the special gold compact (which fits an individual mini-palette) and the three full-sized Maracuja Lipglosses.
The portable compact that comes with this set is really cute. As you can see, it is a slightly antiqued gold with a faux-leather finish, and feels very soft to the touch. The mini-palettes fit perfectly into it, and it has a small mirror which is great for touch-ups on the go.
These lipglosses traditionally come in click-pen packaging (as seen on Sephora’s site here) but for this collection of products, it comes in shorter & wider clear packaging, a golden cap, and doe foot applicator.
This maracuja-infused formula drenches lips in cool moisture while delivering mega-watt shine and rich, glossy pigment. With a variety of rich shades ranging from soft to vivid, you’ll find the perfect colors for day or night. Added benefits of this gloss include the minimization of the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, giving lips a fuller, plumped appearance.

Amazonian Clay Eyeshadows & Blushes
I couldn’t find any color descriptions for each specific color, so after each mini-palette set of swatches, I list my own brief/general color descriptions. But obviously, you can see for yourself what the color is in the swatch itself.

The Bottom Line
I think that Tarte Cosmetics “Gorgeous Getaways” Portable Palette Set is a steal for the fact it is only $48… a single full-sized Amazonian Clay Blush is $26, so this palette costs less than two Amazonian Clay Blushes and you get sixteen Amazonian Clay eyeshadows, four Amazonian Clay blushes, and three Maracuja Lipglosses — all of them full-sized! This collection of products is a great introduction to Tarte Cosmetics for someone new to the brand, as well as being a great addition to any makeup collection where your personal preference (or work rules) lean toward the more neutral zone of color options.
I think the eyeshadows and blush shades in each mini palette are well-coordinated with each other. The eyeshadows are soft and pigmented, and the blushes are among my favorite blush formulas. The lipglosses have a slight menthol effect (like spearmint gum, I suppose intended for a ‘cooling’ effect), high shine finish, and feel slightly sticky when worn.
I really like this holiday set and definitely would recommend it for combination of the price and the amount of product you receive, which are overall fantastic quality. What do you think of this set?
