I think it’s safe to say that Milani is quickly becoming one of my favorite drugstore brands. I was given the opportunity to try their products, and I’m bringing you the first–of quite a few–Milani posts that I’ll be putting up during the next few weeks.
Today I am sharing with you a review (with swatches, of course!) of four lipsticks from Milani’s Color Perfect Lipstick range — the shades Rose Hip (07), Mandarina (42), Nude Creme (50), and Pink Love (52).
Let’s cover the basics first.
You can purchase the Color Perfect Lipsticks either online on Milani’s site here, or in store at CVS. (At this time I am not sure if Walgreens carries the Color Perfect Lipsticks.) … Milani has released the Color Statement Lipstick & Lipliner to replace the Color Perfect line.
The lipstick retails for around $4.99 USD (that is the price on the website, it may vary depending on if you purchase it in-store), and you receive 0.13 oz / 3.74 g of product in each tube.
On the website there are 35 total shades available, however your choices may vary in store.
A creamy-smooth, full-coverage, lustrous lipcolor that makes lips look and feel magnificent! The unique contour tip perfects lip shape with a more precise application.

Nude Creme: ???
The ingredients are listed on the website according to the number listed with each color on the end of the tube. (For example, “Rose Hip” is 07.) I am having a hard time finding the ingredients for Nude Creme (50), but I will email Milani regarding that color specifically and update the post when they get back to me. As you can see, carmine is included in the ingredients so these lipsticks are not vegan, if that is something you are looking for specifically.
Packaging is golden (as to be expected from Milani!) and comes as a standard twist-up lipstick tube. The lipstick is a tapered, sort of geometric-like bullet, as you can see in the photos. I like the narrow tip of the lipstick bullet. I feel that it makes application easier if you are applying straight from the tube and not using a lip brush. The cap stays on securely, and I would consider the packaging sturdy overall–I haven’t experienced any issues with it.
There is a noticeable floral scent to it, very much like sweet roses. I personally quite like it, but I know that isn’t everyone’s cup of tea. If you are sensitive or have an aversion to fragrances, be aware that the Color Perfect Lipsticks do have a floral scent.
As for application, they are very, very smooth. I didn’t notice any dragging or tugging. I personally did not find them drying. The color payoff is pretty impressive, and because of that I would recommend your lips are exfoliated and moisturized before using. Admittedly none of these shades were “one swipe, full opacity” lipsticks, but they were buildable to full opacity within 2 or 3 swipes.
Rose Hip, being a bolder color, required some more care in application so I could ensure everything was nice and even… but I must say it probably had the best pigmentation of all four of the shades. Nude Creme and Pink Love gave me beautiful, even coverage within 2-3 swipes and were really easy to work with. Mandarina took a little extra effort/extra swipes, and I don’t believe it applied quite as evenly as the others (as I could see in the photos afterward), but in person it was almost impossible to notice that.
I wouldn’t call these long wearing, but they aren’t marketed to be long-wearing so I wasn’t expecting them to last 12+ hours. For me, considering the creamy formula/high sheen like these had, wear time was as I expected — about 4-5 hours before I’d do a re-application. I didn’t really experience feathering, but then again feathering is not normally an issue for me, so take that as you will. With a lip liner, wear time becomes longer.
Bare lips for reference.
The lip swatches are in natural light, no lip liner — just lipstick.
I love how bright Rose Hip is, but I am partial to pinks. Mandarina is a very bold shade, but it isn’t a color I reach for often, as I am not much of an tangerine-orange person personally. Both Nude Creme and Pink Love are extremely wearable shades that look good with just about anything.
Of these four, what color is your favorite? Do you own any of the Color Perfect Lipsticks?
